In 2024, HTA is partnering to provide more than $7.5 million in total funding to support 163 nonprofit organizations, community groups, practitioners, projects and events throughout the state.

Maui Ocean Center’s popular “Sharks After Dark” 21-and-older nights return this year from 6 to 9 p.m., Feb. 17 — this time with a “Prom Night” theme.  

This week on Maui, there are concerts by award-winning country singer Brett Young and legendary reggae band The Abyssinians, a public display of the Mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the award-winning musical Daddy Long Legs. Coming Soon: Chinese New Year, rocking bluesman Popa Chubby.

Seabury Hall presents Art with Heart 2024, a student-run event featuring student artists and performers, Feb. 2 and 3, 2024. Both shows begin at 7 p.m. at the ʻAʻaliʻikūhonua Creative Arts Center at Seabury Hall.

Maui Mall Village and the Maui Chinese New Year Festival invite kamaʻāina and visitors to celebrate the Year of the Dragon with family-friendly cultural experiences, including food and craft booths, demonstrations, displays and music on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Jason Arcilla is slated to perform at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua for the Kapalua Concert Series, Friday, Feb. 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This week on Maui, there are concerts by Nashville songwriters and Grammy-nominated reggae singer Pato Banton, as well as Will Evans, Brother Noland in a Slack Key Show, and the Kīhei Fridays event. Coming Soon: A concert by country singer Brett Young.

The Maui County Veterans Council, in collaboration with the County of Maui, extend an invitation to attend The Wall That Heals, Vietnam Memorial, at the War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku. The exhibit opens on Friday, Feb. 9 and will run until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Maui Economic Opportunity’s Head Start, which offers preschool at no cost to qualifying families, will begin accepting applications Thursday, Feb. 1, for the 2024-2025 school year, which begins in August. 

Lahainaluna High School Principal Richard Carosso spoke with Student Council members on Jan. 12, 2024 while signing the Pledge to Our Keiki saying, “the pledge is about a commitment in part to preserving the environment, but for us it’s probably a little different. It’s a pledge to get involved in responsible redevelopment of our community. I think that makes what you are doing here today so important and something to be thinking about as you are signing the pledge.”

This week on Maui there are some major concerts—the legendary reggae band UB40 featuring singer-songwriter Ali Campbell, and the Maui Pops Orchestral performs Disney songs with Susan Egan and Adam Jacobs who originally performed the music. Plus, nationally known comedian Nick Swardson, and A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by Maui Jazz.

Whale Tales returns to The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua as a signature event Feb. 16-18, 2024.

The second One Love Lahaina free community event will take place on Friday at Citizen Church Maui with live music, a skateboard jam, giveaways, food, free-skating and fun for all ages. 

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center presents a free screening for the Maui community of the documentary, Bon-Uta in the McCoy Studio Theater Sunday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. The event is free to the public but pre-registration online only at MauiArts.org is required beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Pacific Whale Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect the ocean and its wildlife, invites passionate filmmakers and artists to honor World Ocean Day 2024 with submissions for the 8th Annual World Whale Film Festival.

The Maui Oceanfront Marathon, which includes a 5K, Mom’s 6-miler and half-marathon, is back for its 16th running on Jan. 14 with new race courses.

The 7th Maui Songwriters Festival, The Sentry golf tournament and an Old Dominion concert are among the events to start the New Year on Maui. Find our comprehensive listing HERE.

Radio and TV personality Kathy Collins is hosting Akakū Maui Community Media’s free 2024 Community Connection Day, with live entertainment from Homestead, on Jan. 12 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
