A special election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 to fill the vacancy in Hawaiʻi’s First Congressional District. This election will be held in conjunction with the regularly scheduled General Election on this same date.

Early voting for the 2016 primary elections got underway on Monday with early walk-in voting at the county clerk’s office in Wailuku and at the Mitchell Pauole Center on Molokaʻi.

The forum is for candidates running for Maui County Council, and will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 at the Baldwin High School.

The public is invited to a candidate forum for the House District 13 and the Ha‘ikū-Pā‘ia-Makawao County Council seats at Ha’ikū Community Center on July 28.

Property taxes, water rights and development are among the issues to be discussed at an Upcountry Aloha ʻĀina candidate forum.

Maui Councilmembers voted 5-4 against the change in government structure and will not be included on November’s general election ballot.

Individuals interested in becoming a candidate may obtain and file a nomination paper at various locations statewide by 4:30 p.m., on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.

The Green Party of Hawai’i endorsed state House candidates: Kealoha Pisciotta for District 3 on Hawai’i Island and Nick Nikhilananda for 13 on Maui.

Congressman Mark Takai (HI-01) has endorsed Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa in the First District of Hawaii Congressional race.

Maui County Council Chair Mike White officially filed nomination papers for reelection to the Council’s Makawao, Ha‘ikū and Pā‘ia residency seat.

State House District 12 House candidate Tiare Lawrence received her first endorsement from the Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association.

Alika Atay is a candidate for the Maui Council’s Wailuku seat. His was also a vocal player in the SHAKA Movement’s efforts for a moratorium on Maui GMO crops.

Rep Lynn DeCoite filed papers to seek election to the District 13 House seat. She is currently filling the remainder of the term of the late Mele Carroll.

The Kula Community Association sponsors a primary election candidate forum on Wednesday, May 18th from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Kula Community Center.

The West Maui Taxpayers Association and Java Jazz at Honokōwai Marketplace invite the public to a pancake breakfast with Rep. Angus McKelvey on Saturday, May 7, 2016, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
