Kaiser hosts ‘Day of Service’ as part of Rev. Martin Luther King observance

More than 100 volunteer physicians, providers, nurses and other Hawai‘i Kaiser Permanente Medical Group clinical and administrative staff worked at Paeloko Learning Center, a Native Hawaiian education center in Waihe‘e that provides hands-on learning opportunities through educational field trips, cultural workshops and environmental restoration projects.

33 pass MIL Surf Coaches Certification Clinic

The 12th annual Maui Interscholastic League Surf Coaches Certification Clinic had a record number of participants. Thirty-three coaches passed the clinic after completing an open ocean swim, and a program that included ocean risk assessment, ocean rescue, lifesaving techniques, CPR and first aid.

Two short films feature public artworks in Lahaina

Two project films featuring the latest public artworks in Lahaina are being release. The films were created through the collaborative Hui Mo‘olelo: Lahaina program of Maui Public Art Corps, the County of Maui, Hale Hōʻikeʻike at the Bailey House/ Maui Historical Society and the Lahaina Restoration Foundation.

Case introduces congressional bill to end discriminatory shipping practices

Hawai‘i US Rep. Ed Case has reintroduced a bill in the US House to end what he called “the discriminatory and exclusionary shipping practices faced by residents and businesses in Hawai‘i, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands and other US territories.”
