Today, four-time GRAMMY Award Winners and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, The Doobie Brothers, have released a new single “Lahaina” along with a music video to provide aid and support to Maui following the August 2023 wildfire disaster.

The Salvation Army hosts “Maui County’s Angel Tree Distribution” event at Kahului Walmart’s special Winter Wonderland scene on Nov. 18 and 19, 2023.

For entertainment this week on Maui, there are performances by the Great American Jazz Piano Competition finalist Jeff Hellmer & Friends, three-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano winner Kevin Brown and Maui Prep actors in Beauty and the Beast, as well as a Winter Craft Fair and the 50th Maui County Senior Fair.

The 26th Annual Excellence in Education Golf Tournament presented by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits took place this past Friday, Nov. 10, 2023 at the Kāʻanapali Golf Course. Through this tournament, the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association raised over $42,000 for Maui’s students pursuing the hospitality industry.

ProArts will host a screening of the cult classic horror comedy “Blood Diner” on Nov. 18, with proceeds benefiting Maui Rapid Response.

While in Japan, Gov. Green will thank Japan’s government for its $2 million contribution to Hawai‘i in the aftermath of the August 2023 Maui wildfire disaster, promote made-in-Hawai‘i products, and invite the return of Japanese visitors to Hawai‘i’s shores.

The American Red Cross of Hawaiʻi continues work in the aftermath of the Maui wildfires to provide service to those impacted by the disaster. Organization leaders say they have been able to do so thanks to donations from generous partners and community members like the Hawaiʻi Business Roundtable, who recently contributed $40,000 to relief efforts. 

Children and staff of Princess Nahiʻenaʻena Elementary School and Kamehameha III Elementary were treated to a Lahaina Toy Surprise and Delight event on Wednesday. The event aimed to bring joy to families impacted by the Lahaina wildfires and create a Winter Wonderland filled with surprises and delights for students and staff.

State Farm donated nearly $500,000 to support multiple Convoy of Hope disaster preparedness and response efforts, including $100,000 designated for the Maui wildfire, and $50,000 for Convoy’s Hurricane Idalia response.

For entertainment this week on Maui, there’s the Maui Veterans Day Invitational Kayak Clash, the 21st Annual Falsetto Contest, a free performance by The Voice contestant Jason Arcilla, debuts of Makana’s song “Lahainalalo,” and a recital by classical pianist Mahana Teave as part of a Wildfire Benefit Concert Series.

The Shops at Wailea is hosting a variety of shows and events for the month of November. The list includes live music on Wednesdays and a concert on Nov. 24 featuring Kalani Peʻa.

In the spirit of giving and community support, The Salvation Army is partnering with Walmart on Maui for the upcoming “Maui County’s AngelTree Distribution” event, set to take place at the store’s special Winter Wonderland scene on Nov. 18 and 19, 2023.

Japan Airlines raised over $132,000 through various fundraising efforts, including mileage donations and collection boxes, to aid communities affected by the Maui wildfires.

Join fellow paper crafting enthusiasts on Nov. 18 at “Creativity for a Cause” to assist Stampin’ Up demonstrators who lost their homes in the Lahaina wildfires.

For entertainment this week on Maui, multiple Grammy winner George Kahumoku and Jazz Maui are back in West Maui, the 10th annual Made-in-Maui Festival features more than 125 vendors and the University of Maui College hosts an Arts & Resilience event and Touch a Truck for kids. Thursday mornings are particularly busy—and rewarding—for the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s culinary arts program purchasing class. Instructor Natasha Joslin and her seven students, along with some campus and community volunteers, pack up 200 boxes of local produce that are distributed later in the day to UH Maui College students and community members affected by the August wildfires. 

The Royal Lahaina Resort celebration recognized the many in-house staff who lost their homes during the Lahaina wildfire, along with the collective resort team that continues to go above and beyond to support the resort that is housing more than 1,000 displaced residents.

The Aloha Pacific Foundation, along with Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union, its members and the community have raised more than $56,000 for the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund for ongoing disaster relief efforts. 

As the holiday season approaches, The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands is gearing up to address the growing needs of our communities, exacerbated by the aftermath of the devastating Maui wildfires. The organization is now calling upon compassionate individuals to join its cause as volunteer bell ringers for the upcoming 2023 Statewide Red Kettle Campaign.

While monetary contributions and fundraisers have been helpful, the Kōkua for Maui program offers the public a chance to connect with individuals and businesses and create an added economic boost.
