Maui County’s “Safer Outside” program takes effect today, Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021. Under the new rules, restaurants are required to ask patrons 12 years and older proof of vaccination for indoor dining. Unvaccinated patrons must be served only in outdoor dining areas, takeout or drive-thru service.

A new signature oceanfront restaurant, Huihui, officially opened this week at the Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel. The completion is part of the hotel’s $75 million phase one property enhancement project.

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa appointed two new team members to its food and beverage department – Mark Majewski as executive chef and Lanakila Graves as director of restaurants and bars. The UHMC Culinary Arts Program’s next Back Door Bake Shop is Friday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program’s advanced baking students have prepared a wide variety of pastries, with all proceeds going back into the UHMC Culinary Arts Program.

Hungry Coyote, a Mexican comfort food restaurant in West Maui, announced their opening this week in Lahaina Square.

The announcement yesterday on the business’s Instagram feed spread quickly. The store opened at 10 a.m. and the line at 10:30 a.m. extended to the center court area of the Maui Mall in Kahului. About an hour later, the shop had sold out of the special flavor.
