Maui Flood Advisory extended to 10:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Advisory for the island of Maui until 10:30 p.m.

The Flash Flood Warning that was in effect for the island of Maui is canceled. The heavy rain has ended and flooding will continue to diminish. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 p.m. Friday for Maui and the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.

Maui Flood Advisory extended to 7:15 p.m.

Update: The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Advisory for Maui until 7:15 p.m. At 4:03 p.m., radar showed heavy rain over west Maui between Kahakuloa and Honolua Bay, with rain falling at a rate near 2 inches per hour. Additional heavy showers were nearly stationary over windward Haleakalā near Ke’anae. Some locations that will experience flooding include: Haʻikū-Paʻuwela, Huelo, Kēōkea, Paʻuwela, Pāʻia, Kaupō, Hāna, Waiheʻe, Kahakuloa and Honokōhau.

Update: Kona low prompts Flood Watch through Friday night

Update: The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the entire state through Friday evening. A kona low developing north of the state will bring the potential for a prolonged period of heavy rain and thunderstorms over portions of the state from Wednesday through Friday and likely continuing through the weekend.

Maui Flood Advisory until 8:45 p.m.

At 5:31 p.m., radar and rain gages showed heavy rainfall over several areas on Maui. Peak rates of 1 to 2 inches were recorded over the slopes of Haleakalā near Hāna, and over the West Maui Mountains near Kahakuloa and Waikapū.

Update/Canceled: Maui Flood Advisory until 10 a.m.

The National Weather Service has canceled the Flood Advisory that was in effect earlier today for the island of Maui. The NWS reports that weather radar shows the heavy rain has diminished and flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat at this time.

Maui Flood Warning until 1 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28

At 9:36 p.m., radar showed heavy rain over the slopes of Haleakalā, falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour with locally heavier rain up to 3 inches per hour.

Sunday Updates: Kona low brings threat of showers and thunderstorms

A strong front is moving rapidly toward the main Hawaiian Islands, bringing periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms through Monday night. Strong and damaging southwest, or kona, winds will also develop tonight and continue through Monday.

Maui flood advisory until 11 a.m.

At 7:58 a.m. HST, radar indicated heavy rain over east Maui. Rain was falling at a rate of up to 2 inches per hour with the heaviest rain over the East Maui mountains. Additonal heavy showers are expected during the next few hours.

Flood Advisory until 4:15 p.m. for Wailea-Mākena

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the Wailea-Mākena area of Maui until 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022.

UPDATE: Maui Flood Advisory extended to 10:30 p.m.

At 6:52 p.m., radar showed moderate to heavy showers continuously developing over the lower slopes and coast of windward Haleakalā. Persistent rainfall rates near 1 inch per hour are expected to continue, with occasional rain bursts producing rates near 2 inches per hour, according to the NWS.

Update/Expired: Maui Flood Advisory until 6:15 p.m.

At 3:04 p.m., radar showed heavy showers over Upcountry Maui, falling at rates of 1 to 1.5 inches per hour.

Maui Flood Advisory Until 8 p.m., Jan. 1, 2022

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the island of Maui until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022.

Maui Flood Warning Canceled; Flash Flooding Observed in Maui Meadows

The National Weather Service replaced the previously issued Flood Advisory with a Flood Warning for the island of Maui, now in effect until 5:45 p.m.

The Flood Advisory that was in effect for Maui was canceled as of 3:48 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021.

Below are storm photos from what the National Weather Service reported as Maui County’s “heaviest rainfall.” The rainfall was expected to cause “catastrophic flooding and affect areas that do not usually flood.”

Maui Weather Updates: Maui Flood WATCH Posted Through Tuesday Afternoon

The National Weather Service reports that flood waters have receded. Piʻilani Highway remains closed at Pahihi Gulch due to earlier flood damage. A Flood Watch remains in effect for Maui County through Tuesday afternoon.

Flood WARNING for Maui Until 12:15 a.m., Molokaʻi Until 12:30 a.m.

At 6:25 p.m. HST, radar showed rain continuing to move over the slopes of Haleakalā from the south. Rain rates of 2-3 inches per hour were occurring over the Kaupō Gap area, and 1-2 inches per hour near ʻOheʻo Gulch. Heavy rainfall will also be moving over central and west Maui during the next several hours.
