Maui Kamehameha Parade issues call for parade entries

Spectators for the inaugural Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Surfing State Championships (HHSAA) will only be allowed to access Ho’okipa Beach Park via free HHSAA event shuttles from the parking lot off Holomua Road on Friday and Saturday, the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announced.

Roots School was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Atherton Family Foundation to further strengthen its English Language Arts program. This funding will enhance early literacy instruction in the classroom and expand targeted, in-school support for students who need it most.

Update: Kaʻahumanu East bound lanes are now open. There is no right turn onto Kaʻahumanu from Puʻunēnē Avenue. The right lane is closed fronting Maui Mall and there is no left turn into Maui Mall for Wailuku bound traffic.

Much of Hawai‘i’s diversified agriculture falls under this specialty crop designation. Eligible plants must be cultivated or managed and used by people for food, medicinal purposes, and/or aesthetic gratification to be considered specialty crops. 

The Hawai‘i Department of Health is reporting a wastewater sample from O‘ahu that has tested positive for clade I mpox. The sample was collected on April 13, 2026, from a wastewater treatment facility on Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam. This is the first time clade I mpox has been detected in wastewater in Hawaiʻi. To date, no clinical case of clade I mpox has been identified in Hawai‘i.

The Hawaiʻi State Senate has confirmed the appointment of Judge Annalisa M. Bernard Lee to the Circuit Court of the 2nd Circuit on Maui.
